As with all our previous studio productions, we once again laid the foundation with the live-and-together-playing situation with a focus on the rhythm section of drums, bass and guitar.

This time we were in Othi's recording studio. Many thanks at this point for his recording work.

What a pleasure, what a joy! 27 years after the release of our debut album "Women's only?" on CD, we now have a review in the U.K. for the digital first release.  The magazine "Blues in the South" writes in its current December 2023 issue:

The widespread wisdom "if you don't release your music digitally, you don't exist" is something we've been hesitant to follow so far. But since a repress of the album as a CD would not really make sense anymore, we have now released it for the pirate - er I mean - streaming platforms.

Listening to it brings back memories of our Sturm- und Drang time at the end of the nineties. The original release was on 1996.

Iko Iko - digital first release!

As a tribute to Will Lindfors, our late drummer & washboard player, we released the song Iko Iko on August 10.Will played here not only drums but also vibraphone.

...WILL will be a part of our heart....

Sad News - our longtime drummer+percussionist Will Lindfors passed away at the end of 2022! We have only now noticed it. He had moved to the Netherlands a few years ago. Will was there from 1999-2005 and recorded half of the songs on the album "Superficial Satisfaction? ", including vibraphone on the song Iko Iko !!!.
He also performed with the washboard on our TV video "Hey Papa Joe", which he also played very energetically live!

In December 2022, we looked at the past year. What madness, what Voodoo worldwide! We said to ourselves, the previously unreleased recording of the Roots version of Voodoo in the Bayou fits like a glove...

This roots-version of voodoo in the bayou was an outtake from our 2003-album “Superficial Satisfaction?”.  Oliver laid his accordion aside and grabbed the guitar, organ and other keyboards.

25 Years Band-Anniversary

Oh my god, so young and good-looking! We tell you the reasons why -  just the best Down-South-Music, dancing as long as you can, doing just selectet gigs, just honest smalltalk with our fans, just the best healty food and much drinking. We are not shure to do this additional 25 years, too. But we try our best!

There are sad-sad news to pronounce:
Buckwheat Zydeco passed away! The biggest star of the actuall Zydeco-Scene (real name: Stanley Dural, Jr.) died at September, 24th. A great sadness in our frame of mind. He was also our and  Olivers greatest influence. His stile influenced generations of zydeco-musicians and therefore the development of the modern Zydeco.

“Hey Buck, we know you will bring them all a good portion of positive Zydeco-Spirit in heaven!”

Second stations was Europeans greatest Zydeco-&Cajun-Festival in Raamsdonksveer / Holland. Over the years we stayed there the fourth time! ZydecoZity is really a coming home to the familiy. Cajun-Food, great Festivaldeco, with Bands round from the globe - you feel like in the heart of Zydeco-Homeland.

On our Mini-Euro-Tour we met CJ Chenier & his red hot Louisiana Band in Zurich/Switzerland. An extremly positiv nad nice Guy. Also his Bandmembers. After it was clear that his Gear from his announced Rider was not available he plays with Olivers Monitorgear brought himself. Both bands played two great sets at the great Albis Gütli Schützenhaus. The audience sat on different flats and a lot of display and digital equipment show all what happended on stage. Really cool ..

We gotta have a new Rubboard- and Percussion-Man Guido Beck! And with him some good new pics, too.

We do the video-shooting at last weekend. It was a great experience and we have a lot of fun doing this. So we are looking for to see it in the show.

Yeah, we recorded the Live-Basics for 14 Songs in the Recording-Studio in March 2012..

Nowadays we are working on new Songs. The Recording-Studio is booked inr January 2012, so we shifting gear for good staff...

First time we will play in Norway. We are looking forward of course. Dalane Blues Festival in Egersund invites us. .

A little Zydeco-Youngster is born: Luis Kraus stays on this world since February. He is unable to decide between Cajun and Zydeco yet ... And Papa is lookin´ for cradle songs and other lullabies for his accordion :-

At these days we are in the Netherlands to produce our first DVD from a formerly Live-Concert. We are excited... Maybe in October we will have it!

Oh yeah, we have a official Version of Los Lobos “Let´s say goodnight” for Germany for our recorded but not published german version “Schlussende, Aus, Vorbei!”. It takes time to get that. Perhaps on our next CD?

These days we rehearse and arrange new songs. Some of that, Oliver says, have more Cajun-lyrics then ever in Zydeco-Playboys . Yeah, it´s really difficult for shure, but with Daigle´s Cajun self taught, Dictionary & Audiotapes we learn more and more about that. Thanks to Internet - we have also found a issue of Yé Yaille, Chère! from.from Francois. So - we try our best...

Dirty Linen - Folk and World Music Issue Oct./Nov. 2004:

Take a pinch of C.J.Chenier, a spoonful of vintage Nick Lowe, stir in a dollop of Los Lobos, bake ‘em in a German oven - and the resulting concoction is Zydeco-Playboys. Half the fun in listening to C-Z recordings froma halfway across ghe globe is seeing how badly the rules are bent. In the case of the Zydeco Playboys’ splendid “Superficial Satisfaction?”, the rules are not only bent but mangled, contorted, and frequently meltetd into an oozing glob. Accordionist Oliver Kraus, with Old-World stylings (“Into the Zydeco”, What youß´re awaitin´ for”) will never be accused of being the next Keith Frank knockoff. But if anything, he´s closer to a Leon Sam, as evidenced by “Chili Boogie”, a relentless piano-note frenzy fueled by country-twangin´ guitars and a blistering organ attack. A couple of tunes (“Vamos Danzar Tejano”, “Oh Rosalina”) reveal Kraus`predilection for hoppin´conjunto music. Granted, with his liberal sensibilities, Kraus may not be placating any purist notion, but it totally works from a dance sensibility, mainly due to the crafty arrangements, infectious melodies, endless hooks, effects, and surprises. Witness the cool riding organ of “Let´s talk about” or the tribal beating and slinky organ on “Iko Iko”. If this fails to entice you to dance like nobody´s watching, then maybe you´re like the grouchy German: a real sauerkraut.
